Continuation of Coverage - Graduating students only!

If you are graduating in Spring 2026 and were enrolled in the Student Health Insurance plan, you are eligible to purchase Continuation of Coverage which provides you coverage up to 90 days after graduation. If you have any questions, please email us at insure@illinois.edu 

Key Dates

  • Purchasing Window:
    Continuation of Coverage is available during a 60-day window:
    • Opens: 30 days before the end of the Spring term (04/15/2026 opens)
    • Closes: 30 days after the end of the Spring term (06/14/2026 deadline)
    • **Note: For insurance purposes, the Spring term ends when the Summer 2026 term begins.
  • Purchase Begins:
    You can begin purchasing Continuation of Coverage on April 15, 2026 via the UHCSR My Account portal.
  • Coverage Start Date:
    Coverage will begin May 16, 2026 - with no gap in coverage.

Eligibility

  • Continuation of Coverage is only available to students who are graduating in the current academic term.
  • This is NOT the same as an Extension (Extension applies to students taking a temporary, one-semester break from on-campus registrations).
  • If you did not have a dependent enrolled on the plan when you graduated, you will not be able to add coverage for your dependent. 

Rates for Spring 2026:

  • Undergraduates: $208 per month for up to 90 days.
  • Graduate: $269 per month for up to 90 days.
  • Dependents: Dependent monthly rates are the same as the student rate for your plan type. 

How to Enroll

  • Please login to your My Account thought the UHCSR website (https://myaccount.uhcsr.com). Once you are logged in, under the My Coverage tab, it will state "Enroll in Continuation". Please follow the prompts to complete your purchase.
